Santa Rosa, CA (September 11, 2024) The community of Santa Rosa was left in shock following an accident that left a child with injuries. A 7-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle that quickly fled the scene, according to reports. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Green Valley Road, not far from Thomas Road.
Initial reports indicated that the girl was walking on the east shoulder of Green Valley Road in Santa Rosa. She was with her mother and other children, according to reports, when a white vehicle approached them as it headed north. Suddenly, the vehicle veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder, hitting the girl. The impact knocked the girl to the ground and left her with injuries. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, but instead, hit the gas and fled the scene, continuing north.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the child with non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, via ambulance, to receive medical care. No one else was injured in this collision, officers reported.
The California Highway Patrol is leading this investigation. They said they are looking for a Toyota Prius from 2010 to 2017 with a detached passenger-side mirror. Officers reported that they have obtained surveillance footage of the accident which will help them in finding the suspect, whom they are still pursuing.
