Fremont, CA (September 17, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision in Fresno left at least one person with injuries on Friday morning, September 13th, 2024. The accident occurred on the 680 Freeway, not far from Highway 262 in Alameda County. Just before 11:00 a.m., several vehicles, including an oil tanker truck, collided.
It started when a pickup truck and a gray Toyota Corolla collided, for reasons that remain unknown. This accident caused a chain reaction collision, reports indicated. A silver Nissan sedan and a oil tanker crashed into the first two vehicles, blocking the Freeway and causing massive traffic delays in the area. As the wrecked vehicles sat in the middle of the freeway, the Toyota began smoking. It had been slammed between two of the vehicles and sustained both front-end and back-end damage, officers reported.

Emergency personnel arrived at the chaotic scene and found the four vehicles blocking the freeway. They quickly checked the vehicles, ready to help anyone who had been injured. At least one person was found with injuries and taken to a hospital in the area to receive treatment for unknown injuries.
Investigators continue to work this case in an effort to understand what caused this accident, as well as who was responsible. Tow trucks were requested at the scene to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway, following the investigation.
