Alfredo Verganza-Lucas, 21, Killed In Riverside Crash

One killed in collision on Marina (90) Freeway in Marina Del Rey.

Riverside, CA (September 30, 2024) A pedestrian was tragically killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Sunday, September 29. The crashes occurred around 3:15 a.m.

California Highway Patrol reported that a Jeep and a Kia crashed on the 91 freeway. Some passengers sustained minor injuries, and the Jeep became disabled. Occupants of the Jeep then exited the vehicle.

A commercial tractor-trailer tried to swerve to avoid hitting the Jeep and was unable to do so. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned. A Toyota behind the tractor-trailer then slammed into the Jeep, pushing it into a male pedestrian–possibly one of the Jeep occupants who had exited the vehicle.

The deceased pedestrian was identified as Alfredo Verganza-Lucas, a 21-year-old from Riverside.

The Jeep and Kia drivers were reportedly arrested for driving under the influence.
