Las Vegas, NV (October 7, 2024) A tragic accident claimed a motorcyclist’s life on Sunday evening, October 6th, 2024. It happened in the Northwest Las Vegas Valley, right around 6:30 p.m., officers reported. The motorcyclist was killed at the intersection of Ricky Road and Rancho Drive, not far from Cheyenne Avenue.
Initial reports indicated that the motorcyclist was riding south on Rancho Drive when a truck, traveling north, attempted a U-turn. The truck began to turn directly in front of the motorcyclist who had no time to stop. Trying to avoid the collision, the riding leaned over, laying the motorcycle on the ground, in an attempt to stop. The motorcycle then slid, taking the rider with it. IT went under the truck and the rider was, sadly, run over by the truck’s wheels.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground. Paramedics began life-saving measures and rushed the victim to a hospital in the area to receive emergency care. Unfortunately, the rider later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Update (10/8): The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Jose Angel Urdiera Velediaz.
Officers closed Rancho Drive between Gowan Road and Cheyenne Avenue, following the collision. They gathered evidence and are working to determine what exactly happened. The motorcycle was completely destroyed in that accident and had to be removed from the scene.
