Reseda, CA (October 8, 2024) A pedestrian was struck and killed in Reseda on Friday night, October 4th, 2024. Matthew Behrooz Chavol, 68, was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street in Reseda. The fatal accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Reseda Boulevard, near Victory Boulevard.
Chavol was walking through Reseda on Friday night, when he attempted to cross Reseda Boulevard. Initial reports indicated that Chavol was in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. The impact threw the pedestrian several feet before he hit the ground, reports indicated. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and waited for authorities to arrive.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division received the call and arrived at the scene within minutes, according to reports. They found the victim on the ground, motionless, and the driver of the vehicle anxiously awaiting their arrival. Officers hurried to the pedestrian’s side, ready to give life-saving treatment, but found that he had been killed in the accident. Sadly, 68-year-old Matthew Behrooz Chavol was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Departments Valley Traffic Division are working to determine what exactly happened on Reseda Boulevard that night. The driver of the vehicle was questioned and cooperated with the investigation.
