Antioch, CA (October 14, 2024) A two-vehicle collision on Highway 4 in Antioch, Contra Costa County, claimed one life on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. The accident occurred at approximately 5:13 a.m., near A Street, according to police officers.
It was early on Sunday morning, before the sun had even risen, as a gray Honda CR-V drove along eastbound Highway 4 in Antioch. Suddenly, the Honda became disabled and crept to a stop, blocking lanes #3 and #4. As the Honda sat in the middle of the highway, a blue Ford F-150 was traveling along the same stretch of highway when he came up on the disabled Honda. There was no time to react and the Ford rear-ended the Honda. The Honda immediately burst into flames, reports indicated, trapping the driver inside.
Fire engines, police cars and an ambulance hurried to the scene with sirens wailing and lights flashing. They arrived to find the Honda engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire and hurried the vehicle. Sadly, the driver of the Honda had not survived the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
