1 Dead, 2 Injured In Oroville Collision At 5th And Montgomery

1 injured in two-vehicle crash in Grass Valley.

Oroville, CA (October 14, 2024) A fatal collision occurred in Oroville on Saturday evening, October 12th, 2024. The collision claimed the life of one person and left 2 others seriously injured, according to reports. It happened right around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Montgomery Street.

Two pickups were approaching the same intersection in Oroville on Saturday evening. One of the vehicles was a Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling at a highway rate or speed. For reasons that remain unknown, the driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign on 5th. The second pickup, a Ford, was headed east on Montgomery and had the right of way. Officers reported that the driver did not have time to avoid hitting the Chevy. The two collided in the middle of the intersection.

Authorities arrived and found the driver of the Chevy unresponsive. They immediately began life-saving measures, but the victim had succumbed to their injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford pickup, as well as their passenger, were both rushed to a hospital in the area to receive treatment for moderate injuries, reports indicated.

Investigators took statements from witnesses at the scene and gathered evidence. They are working to determine what exactly happened to cause this deadly accident in Oroville. Tow trucks arrived at the scene to remove the  two pickups from the roadway and crews worked as quickly as they could to remove the glass and debris.
