Christina Barrington Struck, Killed In Cathedral City Hit-And-Run While Riding Scooter

Christina Barrington Struck and killed by hit-and-run driver in Cathedral City.

Cathedral City, CA (October 15, 2024) 60-year-old Christina Barrington was riding a scooter in Cathedral City on Friday, October 11th, when she was struck by a vehicle. It happened around 12:45 a.m. near Bankside Drive and East Palm Canyon Drive. Sadly, she passed away from her injuries at the hospital.

It was after midnight as 60-year-old Christina Barrington rode a scooter through the streets of Cathedral City. Reports indicated that the was headed east on East Palm Canyon Drive when a vehicle approached. For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle hit the scooter from behind. Barrington was thrown from the scooter and landed on the roadway. The vehicle fled the scene, dragging the scooter a quarter of a mile down the road, before it became dislodged.

Officers said they began receiving calls about a woman lying on the roadway at approximately 12:46 a.m. They hurried to the scene and found Barrington on the ground with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center to receive emergency care, but unfortunately, her injuries were too severe. She succumbed to them the following day and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officers investigated the scene and on Monday, October 14th, they found the vehicle in Rancho Mirage. This led them to the suspect’s location.
