One Killed In Wrong-Way Rancho Cucamonga Crash

Wrong-way collision in Rancho Cucamong kills 1 and injured another.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA (October 17, 2024) A devastating wrong-way collision occurred in Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday morning, October 16th, 2024. The accident occurred on Foothill Boulevard, around 1:00 a.m., and claimed one person’s life. Another person was left with injuries.

It was just before 1 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, as vehicles made their way through Rancho Cucamonga. A Tesla sedan, driven by a 23-year-old was east on Foothill Boulevard when the driver suddenly saw headlights approaching directly in front of the vehicle. A 33-year-old man was driving a Toyota Avalon and, for reasons unknown, began heading west in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the Tesla had no time to react and the two crashed, head-on, near Haven Avenue.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles badly damaged. The hurried to the wreckage, prepared to give medical aid to anyone in need. Unfortunately, they found the driver of the Toyota with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene and officers requested a coroner. The 23-year-old Tesla driver had sustained injuries in the collision, according to reports. They were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment, following the collision.

Officers investigated the scene before the tow truck removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway. Crews cleaned the glass and debris from the eastbound lanes of Foothill Boulevard so traffic could resume. Investigators are determined to uncover what caused this fatal, wrong-way collision in Rancho Cucamonga.
