San Diego, CA (October 24, 2024) A 60-year-old man on a motorcycle was seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon, following a collision with another vehicle in San Diego. The collision occurred in the Bay Terraces neighborhood, around 3:40 p.m., at the intersection of Briarwood Road and Paradise Valley Road.
The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man, was riding a black 2019 Suzuki in the eastbound lane of Paradise Valley Road. At 7200 Paradise Valley Road, he moved into the left turn lane and began turning onto Briarwood Road. As he turned, a red 2015 Toyota Prius was headed west and also entered the intersection. The motorcyclist tried to avoid a collision and dropped to the ground. However, this caused him and the motorcycle to slide into the Toyota, according to reports.
The driver of the Toyota, a 63-year-old woman, immediately stopped and waited for police officers to arrive. Emergency crews found the motorcyclist on the ground with serious injuries. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for a brain bleed and facial fractures.
Officers with the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are investigating this accident to determine what exactly happened at that San Diego intersection. At this time, they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in this accident.
