Stanislaus County, CA (June 14, 2024) Sadness blanketed the community of Stanislaus County as news spread of a child’s death. 11-year-old Jonathan Ramos, from Ceres, was riding his bicycle on the evening of June 7th, when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. This devastating accident took place on Crows Landing Road, not far from Highway 99, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers said.
11-year-old Ramos was heading south on Crows Landing Road on his bicycle, near Modesto. An Acura was driving north along Crows Landing Road at the same time, reports indicated. Initial reports suggested that Ramos suddenly turned to the left, directly in the path of the vehicle. The Acura struck the bicycle, throwing Ramos from the bike.The boy landed on the ground with his damaged bicycle on the ground several feet from him.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found Ramos on the ground, motionless. Paramedics quickly placed the boy on a stretcher and loaded him into an ambulance. He was rushed to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto to receive emergency medical treatment. Unfortunately, Ramos succumbed to his injuries and with hearts, authorities pronounced the boy dead at the hospital.
Police officers remained behind and investigated the scene. They took statements from the driver of the vehicle as well as witness and do not believe that intoxication was a factor. They continue the investigation to determine exactly what caused this fatal accident on Crows Landing Road in Stanislaus County.
