18-Year-Old Bicyclist Struck, Killed In Huntington Beach

Bicyclist killed in collision on Highway 74 in Good Hope.

Huntington Beach, CA (March 8, 2024) Sadness rocked the community of Huntington Beach on March 7th when an 18-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed. It was early morning in Huntington Beach when the biker was struck on Talbert Avenue, near Bell Circle, officers reported.

The 18-year-old was riding west in the bike lane on Talbert Avenue at approximately 6:15 a.m., reports indicated. As they rode, a maroon 2016 Kia Sorento, driven by a 26-year-old man from Fullerton, approached in the No. 2 lane. Suddenly, the Kia struck the bicyclist from behind, throwing him from his bicycle.

The Huntington Police Department arrived at the scene to find the bicyclist lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed the bicyclist to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and cooperated with police officers during their investigation. The Huntington Beach Police Department’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation into this deadly accident on Talbert Avenue.
