MODESTO, CA (AUGUST 5, 2023): A 79-year-old cyclist, Bhag Mal, is dead after a tragic hit-and-run crash in Modesto on Wednesday.

Mal was riding along Snyder Avenue near Prescott road early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a 2012 Dodge pick-up truck. He was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries, where he unfortunately died.
The driver of the Dodge, 19-year-old Destiny Aguillon, initially remained at the scene despite denying involvement in the crash to authorities. Aguillon then left the scene. Following investigation, Fresno PD determined she was the driver of the Dodge.
Aguillon is currently in custody and is facing vehicular manslaughter charges as well as a felony hit-and-run.
