Westminster, CA (September 18, 2024) A bicycle accident in Westminster on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a 93-year-old man. It happened at the intersection of Bolsa Avenue and Newland Street right around 4:15 p.m., officers reported. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the accident.
The Orange County Fire Department and the Westminster Police Department arrived at the scene after receiving a call about a bicyclist who had been hit by a vehicle. It was right around 4:15 p.m. when they arrived at the intersection of Bolsa Avenue and Newland Street. They found the victim lying on the roadway, bleeding. Paramedics began life-saving treatment but there was nothing they could do. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is being led by the Westminster Police Department Traffic Bureau. While they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the deadly accident, they are working to determine what happened at that Westminster intersection.
