BALLONA WETLANDS, CA (NOVEMBER 14TH, 2023): 28-year-old Joana Soto Diaz was killed in a pedestrian accident near the Ballona Wetlands marsh last weekend.
Reports from a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center reveal that the incident occurred on Sunday, November 12th at around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard. Authorities report that Diaz appeared passed out in the roadway when a vehicle traveling westbound on Jefferson Boulevard approached the area she was located in.

The vehicle then struck Diaz, leaving her in critical condition. Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the collision and discovered Diaz lying in the roadway. Despite their attempt to render first aid, Diaz was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle responsible fortunately remained at the scene and remains cooperative with authorities.
A description of the vehicle was not provided by preliminary reports.
The 28-year-old was identified this week by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
It is unclear why Diaz was lying in the roadway at the time of the incident. Los Angeles authorities continue to investigate this pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Joana Soto Diaz.
