A blue GMC pickup truck approached the intersection of North Ontare Road and State Street in Santa Barbara on Wednesday morning. The truck continued through the intersection, only to hit a bicycle in the 3500 block of State Street. The pickup knocked the rider and the bike over, causing them to go under the front of the pickup.
Police officers arrived at the scene and discovered that the bicyclist was trapped under the pickup truck’s front wheel. Firefighters arrived at the scene and used special tools to free the rider, according to reports. The bicyclist was rushed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
