Santa Ana, California (February 20, 2024) An early morning bicycle ride ended in tragedy on Friday morning, February 16th, in Santa Ana. In a sad turn of events, the bicyclist was hit by a car and did not survive the accident, according to authorities.
It was right around 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning as a bicyclist rode along Alton Avenue. As the bicyclist approached Bristol Street, a vehicle was heading North on Bristol. Detective Sgt. Richard Shin told City News Service, “The vehicle was traveling northbound on Bristol Street approaching Alton Avenue when it struck a bicyclist traveling eastbound across the northbound lanes of travel.”
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found a badly damaged bicycle and its rider lying on the roadway. Paramedics did everything they could to try and save the bicyclist, but sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the crash. The Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division team is leading the investigation into this fatal collision.
