Franklin Mejia Killed In Santa Clarita Bicycle Accident

Santa Clarita, CA (December 3, 2023) 42-year-old Franklin Mejia, from Santa Clarita, lost his life in a bicycle crash on November 25th, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 12:42 p.m. in the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Market Street in Santa Clarita. Reports indicate that a blue Mini Cooper hit Mejia as he was riding a bicycle.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found Mejia on the ground, his bicycle laying not far from him, damaged. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department rushed to his side, ready to use life-saving measures. Sadly, Mejia died during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

The driver of the Mini Cooper remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, following the accident. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and Mejia’s bicycle was removed from the scene.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Station is leading the investigation into this tragic accident at Railroad Avenue and Market Street. Officials are still not sure what caused this crash or who was at fault. They hope to find security surveillance that captured the accident in hopes of learning more.
