San Diego, CA (May 9, 2024) 56-year-old Kevin Cerv from Oceanside was tragically killed when his e-bike collided with a vehicle in San Diego. The accident occurred at the Ocean Ranch Boulevard and Corporate Centre Drive intersection in Oceanside. It was just before 4:00 a.m. on April 9th, when the e-bike and vehicle collided, officers said.
An early morning ride on an electric bike ended in a deadly collision for Kevin Cerv. He was riding the electric bike just minutes before 4:00 a.m. when he suddenly collided with another vehicle. The sun had yet to rise and darkness covered the area as Cerv headed along the quiet road. He entered the intersection at the same time as the vehicle and the two just couldn’t avoid each other. Cerv was thrown from his electric bike and gravity slammed him down on the ground, hard. His e-bike laid on the ground several feet from him, dented and broken.
Police officers arrived at the scene and began life-saving measures on Cerv who had sustained serious injuries in the accident. Paramedics at the scene strapped Cerv to a stretcher and rushed him to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, via ambulance. Cerv arrived with severe head and neck trauma and had a spinal fracture, according to reports. He was admitted to the hospital and remained there for nearly a month, fighting for his lift. Sadly, his condition continued to worsen. Kevin Cerv succumbed to his injuries on Friday, May 3rd, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
