Lakeside, CA (July 8, 2024)
On Friday, July 5, at about 3:50 p.m., a man was fatally injured in Lakeside, a community in the East County of San Diego.
The 52-year-old man was riding a bicycle on state Route 67. He was north of Mapleview Street when a 32-year-old man driving a silver 2021 Chevrolet Trax was heading southbound on the freeway. This man crashed into the bicyclist as he was riding westbound across the road. Both parties are from Lakeside.
Tragically, California Highway Patrol reports that authorities found the 52-year-old dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet did not sustain any injuries.
Officers detailed that they don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a role in this sad event. They are continuing an investigation to figure out the exact circumstances of this crash.
