Teen Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Killed Leobardo Cervantes In Long Beach

Bicyclist killed, driver injured in Jurupa Valley crash.

Long Beach, CA (December 7, 2023) 29-year-old Leobardo Cervantes was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene in Long Beach. He eventually succumbed to his injuries, authorities reported. The accident took place just before 8:00 a.m. near Harding Street and California Avenue. The 16-year-old driver who was responsible for the hit-and-run was arrested, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police officers believe that the teen intentionally struck Cervantes as he rode his bike on Harding Street. The 16-year-old, driving a dark-colored sedan was allegedly speeding on Harding Street as he headed east. He hit Cervantes at a high speed and continued to drive away from the scene.

Paramedics arrived and found Cervantes in serious condition. He was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. He held on for 17 days before passing away at the hospital because of his injuries.

The teenager was already in custody for another charge when he was also booked for this hit-and-run. He faces several charges, including murder.
