Oakland, CA (July 10, 2024) A terrible accident involving a dirt bike and a car happened on Monday, July 8 at about 8:18 p.m.
A man in his twenties was driving a dirt bike in the 8000 block of International Boulevard with a 20-year-old woman as a passenger. The two residents of Oakland were heading westbound in the bus-only lane. Reports say the man was driving the bike about 65 mph.
Suddenly, a 2001 Toyota Avalon attempting a left turn onto 80th Avenue from International Boulevard struck the dirt bike. The collision threw the man and the woman off the bike and into the road.
Shockingly, a yet-unknown person stopped by the scene, picked up both the man and the dirt bike, and left the woman behind. This person apparently dropped the critically injured rider at a hospital and drove away with the bike.
Authorities who responded to the crash found the woman suffering severe head trauma. They rushed her to a hospital. The Toyota driver, who was not injured, stayed at the scene. An investigation into this shocking incident is ongoing.
