Murrieta, CA (September 6, 2024) A student riding a bicycle in Murrieta on Thursday afternoon, September 6th, 2024, was struck and injured by a minivan. Reports indicated that the collision occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of High Vista Drive and Pourroy Road.
A student was reportedly riding a bicycle home from school on Thursday afternoon when they were struck by a minivan. Reports suggested that there are no bike lanes in the area of the collision, however, law requires motorists to give bicyclists 3 feet of roadway. The cause of this collision is still under investigation, but authorities reported that the driver of the minivan stopped and cooperated following the accident.

Officers arrived, along with Cal Fire Riverside Paramedics, to find the student on the ground, the damaged bicycle laying several feet from them. It was obvious that they were injured, but paramedics determined that the student’s injuries were not life-threatening. They transported the victim to a local hospital to receive treatment, but the bicyclist is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers took a statement from the driver of the minivan, as well as witnesses at the scene. They are working to determine what caused this collision, as well as who was responsible. The bicycle was removed from the scene following the initial investigation.
