One Injured In Susanville Bus Collision

School bus collision starts fire and leaves one injured in Santa Cruz County.

Susanville, CA (August 20, 2024) A chaotic collision occurred in Susanville on Monday morning, August 19th. A bus collided with a construction vehicle, leaving one person with injuries. The collision occurred around 8:37 a.m. near Mile Marker 36, according to police reports.

It was a typical Monday morning in Susanville as a bus headed along a county highway, carrying passengers. Initial reports indicated that the bus collided with a construction vehicle due to unknown circumstances. Following the collision, the bus blocked the roadway. The construction vehicle was able to pull to the side and wait for authorities.

Employees with the construction company immediately jumped into action and began directing traffic around the damaged bus. Police officers arrived and found one passenger on the bus with injuries. At this time, it isn’t known if the victim was treated at the scene or transported to a hospital. People began arriving at the scene to pick up passengers from the damaged bus, officers reported. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the bus, which had sustained significant damage in the accident. This investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine not only what happened to cause this crash, but also, who was at fault.
