1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized in Bakersfield Crash on Cecil

Bakersfield, CA (June 21, 2024)

A deadly crash occurred in Bakersfield early this morning, Friday, a little after 3 a.m. It happened on Cecil Avenue and Famoso Porterville Highway.

The crash involved two vehicles travelling east of Delano. A 23-year-old woman from McFarland was driving her Honda when she was hit by a Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was a 20-year-old man from Richgrove. CHP reports that he was travelling at an unknown speed when he made a turn directly into the path of the woman’s Honda for unknown reasons. Police are reportedly investigating whether or not alcohol was involved in this crash.

Tragically, the Richgrove man was killed in this collision. The McFarland woman was transported to Kern Medical for treatment of her injuries. Her condition is not known at the time of writing.

Video footage shows both vehicles look severely damaged. A tow truck had to remove both from the scene. Roads were closed for a while, but they have been reopened.
