CORONA, CA (SEPTEMBER 1, 2023): One person is dead and another in critical condition after a two-vehicle collision on the I-15 Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the freeway, when a pickup truck and a sedan collided at the Cajalco off-ramp under unknown circumstances.

The collision caused the sedan to overturn, ejecting at least one of its occupants.
Bystanders stopped and administered CPR on the ejected individual until emergency personnel arrived. Paramedics arrived at the scene less than ten minutes later, attempting resuscitative measures. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene just after 1 p.m.
Another victim was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Their current condition remains unknown.
The collision caused the closure of the Cajalco exit lane and off-ramp and a traffic jam spreading over two miles.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of this fatal I-15 collision.
