Rancho Cordova, CA (November 4, 2023) A 7-vehicle collision left two people injured on Wednesday, November 1st, on Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova. Sacramento Metro Fire said that the 7-car pileup occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at Sunrise Boulevard and Highway 50.
It started when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was speeding down Highway 50. The Toyota side-swiped a Subaru Forester in the next lane, forcing the Toyota to go up an embankment on the Sunrise Boulevard off-ramp and struck a Toyota 4Runner. This caused both vehicles to overturn and come to a stop on their sides. One of the two vehicles hit a Toyota Corolla, a Subaru Outback, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Tundra.

Police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes to what looked like a war zone. Damaged vehicles covered the highway, 2 cars were on their sides and debris and glass had rained down over the entire area. Paramedics began checking victims to see if anyone needed help. They found one person with injuries and loaded them into the ambulance and took them to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Tacoma was also injured in the collision, but refused medical attention.
Officers investigating the accident do not believe impairment was a factor in this collision. The crash still remains under investigation.
