Riverside, CA (October 7, 2023) 1 person was killed and another injured in a collision on Jefferson Street in Riverside. The Riverside Police Department said they were called to the scene shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th.
A 1998 Mercedes Benz, driven by a 19-year-old Riverside resident, was reportedly speeding down Jefferson Street when they lost control of the car. Sgt. Emilio Angulo said the vehicle swerved off the road and slammed into a tree.

Authorities arrived at Dufferin Avenue and Jefferson Street where they found both the driver and passenger of the car suffering from injuries. Both were taken to Riverside Community Hospital, but the passenger later died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Angulo.
The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Police are still uncertain as to whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor in this fatal crash. The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is on the case!
