Palmdale, CA (September 6, 2024) Sadness covered the community of Palmdale this morning as residents awoke to news of a collision that claimed a life. The head-on accident occurred on 240th Street East at the intersection of Avenue O, right around 5:23 a.m. this morning, according to reports. Sadly, one person was killed in this collision.
A sedan and a work truck were both headed along 240th Street East in Palmdale, early on Monday morning, September 6th, 2024. For reasons that remain a mystery, the two vehicles collided, head-on, the California Highway Patrol reported. Dispatch began receiving calls about the two damaged vehicles blocking the lanes of the roadway, right around 5:23 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles with major damage blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes of the roadway. Paramedics quickly checked the vehicles for anyone who had been injured. Reports indicated that they found one person who had been killed in the accident and pronounced them dead at the scene. Another person had sustained injuries in the accident, officers reported. It is unknown if they were taken to a hospital or treated at the scene.
Tow trucks removed the vehicles following the initial investigation at the scene and glass and debris were removed from the roadway. Officers are working to determine why the two vehicles collided, head-on. They are also working to uncover which vehicle was at fault.
