Rio Vista, CA (September 5, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in Rio Vista on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. One person lost their life and several others sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 160. The collision happened at approximately 5:00 p.m., not far from Sherman Island Road.
It was Sunday evening in Rio Vista as vehicles traveled along Highway 160. Officers are still not sure exactly what caused the collision, but a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck, a dark-colored SUV and a white Toyota SUV were all involved. The impact sent one of the vehicles down an embankment, officers reported. Another vehicle came to a stop in the water and the third vehicle remained on the highway, blocking traffic.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and, sadly, found that one person had been killed in the collision. Several others had sustained injuries during the accident, according to reports. Paramedics took several people to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for injuries they sustained during the collision.

Officers are still working to determine what caused this fatal accident in Rio Vista. They are also working to discover who was responsible for this fatal collision in Rio Vista. One car had to be pulled up from the embankment and another had to be removed from the water. Tow trucks hauled all three vehicles away, reports indicated.
