Westwood, CA (October 30, 2024) Five people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Westwood on Tuesday morning, October 29th, 2024. The two vehicles collided on South Veteran Avenue, near Ophir Drive, around 11:35 a.m.
Dispatch received the 911 call around 11:35 on Tuesday morning about two vehicles colliding in Westwood. It all happened at 420 South Veteran Avenue. The vehicles sustained significant damage in the accident and two people were found trapped inside one of the vehicles, according to reports. Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department had to use special tools to free the two victims from the wreckage.
In all, first responders found five people with injuries. One of the victims had sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other four were listed in fair condition. All five were transported to local hospitals, via ambulances, to receive treatment for various injuries.
Officers questioned those at the scene and gathered evidence in an effort to not only determine what caused this collision, but who was responsible. Tow trucks had to remove the badly damaged vehicles from the scene and crews quickly swept the glass and debris from the roadway. This accident remains under investigation.
