Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded at 12:29 a.m. Thursday to the freeway at Paxton Street just east of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway where they found one person trapped inside a vehicle, the CHP said.

A semi was seen on the right side of the freeway but it was unclear if it was involved in the collision.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the scene to free the victim.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified Andy Salas, 33, as the victim of the crash. Salas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed all lanes of the freeway and traffic was diverted to the 118 while the CHP investigated the crash.
