Shasta County, CA (October 8, 2023) A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and injured on Highway 299, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. in the area of Iron Mountain Road and Highway 299.

California Highway Patrol stated that the bicyclist was riding east on Highway 299 and was making a left turn onto Iron Mountain Road. A pickup was driving on Iron Mountain Road and hit the bicyclist. The driver of the pickup pulled over and cooperated with authorities. They weren’t injured in the collision.
However, the bicyclist sustained major injuries in the crash and was transported to Mercy Medical Center. The cause of this accident is still under investigation.
