Los Angeles (July 19, 2023) A carjacker has been taken into custody this afternoon after leading California Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase. The driver was involved in a spree of stolen vehicles which is believed to have started in Ventura County earlier today. The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that this is the third vehicle believed to be carjacked by this suspect.

The suspect stole the white minivan from a gas station parking lot in the Woodland Hills area and headed west on the Ventura Freeway after abandoning a stolen BMW. He led officers in a pursuit with speeds over 100 mph. In an attempt to escape, the driver rammed the stolen minivan into a police cruiser in Thousand Oaks and found himself surrounded.
The barricade of cruisers gave him no escape so he surrendered and was taken into custody.
