BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 13, 2022) – Christian Valencia, 25, of Arvin was arrested Friday on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Valencia was observed by police officers driving recklessly through South H and Planz Road around 12:30 a.m. Officers lost sight of the vehicle before the crash happened around the areas of White and Hughes lanes.
Officers say Valencia was driving a BMW when he crashed it into a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.
Valencia suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is suspected by the Bakersfield Police Department to have been under the influence of both drugs and alcohol.
Once released from the hospital, Valencia will be booked into jail.
