Modesto, CA (November 10, 2023) – 64 year old Daniel Trevarthen was tragically killed on Thursday, November 9th, in a serious pedestrian crash on Santa Cruz Avenue in Modesto, California. The Modesto Bee, a local news source, reported that the accident took place at about 6:00 a.m. near the intersection with Mono Drive.
According to th0e California Highway Patrol, Trevarthen was crossing the Santa Cruz Avenue in his wheel chair when he was struck by a white Chevrolet SUV. When officers arrived they found Trevarthen down in the southbound lane, unresponsive to their communications. The driver of the SUV had stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Preliminary evidence may suggest that the Chevy was speeding at the time of the crash.

Paramedics were called to the scene and performed life saving measures, but sadly, Trevarthen succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
