San Juan Capistrano, CA (February 2, 2024) A two-vehicle accident claimed a life this morning on Ortega Highway 74. It was just before 11:00 a.m. when two vehicles slammed into each other in the eastbound lanes of the highway, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol reported that one person was killed in this collision, but there has been no word on whether or not anyone else was injured.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, along with paramedics, and found two damaged vehicles. A white Jeep Patriot had collided with a silver sedan and the vehicles were blocking Highway 74. Officers reported that debris was thrown across the highway and officers had to close a portion of the road for a few hours.

Paramedics found one person with life-threatening injuries who was, sadly, pronounced dead at the scene. The loss of life in a traffic accident is always heartbreaking.
