The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes.

The California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Fire Department both arrived at the scene and found the four vehicles with significant damage. The debris field left behind from the four-vehicle accident went on for several feet in every direction.
