RAMONA, CA (SEPTEMBER 7, 2023): 23-year-old James Alvarez has been identified as the victim of a head-on collision on State Route 67 early Monday morning.
According to San Diego authorities, Alvarez was traveling northbound on the freeway at around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of his 2013 Volkswagen Jetta and veered across the double yellow lines.

His vehicle then crossed directly into the path of a southbound 2019 Toyota Camry, causing the vehicles to collide head-on.
Alvarez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The 20-year-old woman driving the Toyota was hospitalized for the treatment of non-life threatening-injuries.
The California Highway Patrol continue to investigate the cause of this collision resulting in the death of James Alvarez.
