Goleta, CA (November 6, 2023) A 16-year-old girl was struck and killed by a train on Monday morning, November 6th, near Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. The fatal collision happened on the tracks that run parallel to the 4500 block of Hollister.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office reported that their deputies were called around 9:00 a.m. on Monday in regards to a train vs. pedestrian accident. They rushed to the train tracks near the 4500 block of Hollister and found the teenage girl laying on the ground, not far from the train. Paramedics arrived and were prepared to give her aid, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld until her next of kin are notified.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating this tragic collision. The circumstances leading up to the accident are still unclear. Authorities do not know if the teenager was walking on the tracks, standing on the tracks or trying to cross them.
