Reno, NV (November 5, 2024) John Jackson, 79, and Laura Johnson, 78, were both killed in a collision in Reno, Nevada on Thursday afternoon, October 24th. The collision occurred at the intersection of Wedge Lane and US 50 A. The two-vehicle accident happened around 2:13 p.m., according to reports.
A 2005 Toyota Tacoma was heading north on Wedge Lane and came to a stop at the stop sign. A 2007 Toyota 4Runner was driving east on US 50 A. The Tacoma made a left turn from West Lane onto US 50 A as the 4Runner approached. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, officers reported. They both stopped in the middle of the roadway, blocking lanes of traffic, and debris littered the roadway, causing traffic hazards, as well.
The Nevada State Police arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles in the middle of the intersection. They quickly made their way to the vehicles, prepared to give emergency medical attention to anyone in need. Sadly, they found the occupants of the Tacoma with fatal injuries. The driver, 79-year-old John Jackson, and his passenger, 78-year-old Laura Jackson, were both pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles, following the investigation of the scene. Crews worked quickly to remove the debris that was left behind, allowing traffic to resume normally. Officers are working to better understand what exactly caused this accident in Reno.
