It was right around 5:30 p.m. as a vehicle headed along the Pomona 60 Freeway in Jurupa Valley. Officers reported that the victim was thrown approximately 50 feet down an embankment and landed in a gully.
Personnel with the Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the scene roughly 15 minutes after the accident occurred. They rushed to the vehicle only to find the victim had been thrown. They found the driver on the ground and prepared to start life-saving treatment. Unfortunately, the driver was already deceased. With heavy hearts, officials pronounced them dead at the scene and called for a coroner.
Officers closed the slow lane on the westbound 60 Freeway all the way to the Interstate 15 interchange and issued a SigAlert. They investigated the scene and had to request a tow truck to come and use a wench line to pull the vehicle back onto the roadway. The damaged vehicles was then hauled away and crews cleared the debris from the interstate and the side of the road.
