Lake Balboa, CA (June 5, 2024) A three-vehicle collision involving a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser occurred on Tuesday evening, June 4th, in Lake Balboa. The multi-vehicle accident left two people with critical injuries, according to police officers. Nicholas Prange, a spokesperson for the LAFD told City News Service that two of the victims had to be extricated from the their vehicle. It all happened at the intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Balboa Boulevard right around 7:45 p.m.

It was a Tuesday evening in Lake Balboa as vehicles headed to and from destinations. For reasons that are still unknown, three vehicles collided at the intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Balboa Boulevard. One of the three vehicles was a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser, reports indicated. The collision left the intersection blocked by the three damaged vehicles and debris was thrown in every direction.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the three vehicles with serious damage. They quickly checked the three vehicles to see if anyone was in need of medical care. They found three people with injuries, according to reports. Two of the victims were trapped inside their vehicle and had to be extricated. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the two victims, Nicholas Prange reported. Two of the victims were loaded into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for critical injuries. The third victim sustained only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Officers are still not sure what caused this three-vehicle collision in Lake Balboa. They gathered evidence and took statements at the scene before crews began clearing the intersection of debris. Tow trucks were called to remove at least one of the vehicles from the scene, according to reports. Investigators continue to work this case in an effort to determine what caused this collision and who was at fault.
