Update 5/19/2023: Today, officials released the name of a 93-year-old woman who tragically lost her life following a vehicular collision in Huntington Beach. Mary Margaret Machulda of Fountain Valley, who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
Huntington Beach, CA (May 12, 2023) Authorities in Huntington Beach announced today that a 93-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries when her vehicle collided with another car.. The incident took place at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Garfield Avenue around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
According to the police, the woman was driving a Buick Riviera heading north on Magnolia Street. When she made a left turn onto Garfield Avenue, she crossed paths with a southbound Jeep Wrangler, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
The woman was promptly transported to a hospital, where she unfortunately passed away. Her identity has not been disclosed pending notification of her family members. The other driver involved, a 48-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities during the interview.
Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries, according to the police. The police stated that there were no apparent signs of impairment by the Wrangler driver.
