Gramercy Park, Los Angeles, CA (February 13, 2024) A quiet Los Angeles intersection turned into a tragic and chaotic scene on Monday night. Just before midnight, two vehicles collided at the intersection of West Century Boulevard and South Western Avenue in Gramercy Park, killing 28-year-old Alfred Joseph Marvray IV.
It was dark as a Tesla Model 3 headed south on Western Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Marvray was traveling east on Century Boulevard. Both vehicles approached the intersection, but the Tesla didn’t stop at the red light. Marvray continued driving through a green light and was hit by the Tesla in the middle of the intersection.
The 911 call was received by the Los Angeles Police Department at 11:50 p.m. on February 12th. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the two vehicles in the intersection, both with severe damage. Debris, glass and even liquid covered the intersection, illuminated by the street lights above.

They found Marvray in the Chevy with fatal injuries and sadly, could do nothing to revive them. With heavy hearts, they pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the Tesla was obviously impaired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. They identified the driver as 26-year-old Destiney Baker of Hawthrone. Baker was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder with a $2 million bail.
