Gridley, CA (September 11, 2024) One person lost their lives in a collision on Wednesday morning, September 11th, 2024. The head-on accident took place around 6:13 a.m. on Highway 99 and Ord Ranch Road, according to reports.
A silver GMC Denali and a silver Honda Civic collided, head-on, on Highway 1, according to reports. Details remain fuzzy, but officers reported that one of the vehicles crossed the double yellow line, into oncoming traffic. At approximately 6:13 a.m., they slammed into each other, reports indicated. The two vehicles collided hard, leaving major front-end damage to both of the vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and immediately began searching the vehicles for anyone in need of medical assistance. Unfortunately, they found one person with fatal injuries. With heavy hearts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics arrived and aided those who had been injured, however the number of people injured, or the extent of injuries has not been disclosed.
Both vehicles sustained such extensive damage, that they both had to be removed from the scene by tow trucks. The Butte County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation into this accident, reports indicated. They are working to piece together what caused this collision, as well as who was responsible.
