SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (June 23, 2022) – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the 5 freeway in Santa Fe Springs Wednesday morning.
CBS News reports that three vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred around 2 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway.
A big rig was involved in the crash that ejected a man in his 40s from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The impact of the collision caused one vehicle to overturn onto its roof.
The accident also caused all lanes of the 5 freeway to be closed as the California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert that wasn’t cleared until 7 a.m. when all lanes reopened to traffic.
This is the second accident in just over a month on the 5 freeway in Santa Fe Springs where a motorist was killed.
It is unknown at this time what caused the crash, or the condition of the other motorists involved. As this story develops, we will update it with more information when it becomes available.
