Jose Maldonado, Daphne Maldonado Killed, Another Critically Injured In Two-Car Collision In Sun Village

1 killed, 3 injured in Los Angeles collision.

Sun Village, CA (March 4, 2024) Sadness and shock swept through Sun Village on Sunday evening as news spread of an accident that claimed two lives. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred right around 7:45 p.m. in the unincorporated community of Antelope Valley. 83-year-old Jose Maldonado and 87-year-old Daphne Maldonado were both killed in this devastating collision.

The California Highway Patrol is not certain what exactly happened, but they received the call about a two-vehicle collision in Sun Village on Sunday evening. When they arrived at the intersection of 106 Street E and E Avenue T, they found a red pickup truck and a red sedan with severe damage. Debris littered the roadway and officers hurried to give aid to anyone in need. Both Jose and Daphne Maldonado were trapped inside their vehicles, officers reported. Sadly, they both died and pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. One person riding in the pickup truck was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, officers said.

Investigators gathered evidence at the scene and are determined to learn what happened in Sun Village on Sunday evening. They are working diligently to figure out what caused this fatal collision and who was at fault.
