Nicolaus, CA (March 11, 2024) A two-vehicle collision on Highway 99 in Nicolaus left one person with serious injuries early Monday morning. The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 3:20 a.m. on March 11th near Powerline Road in Sutter County.
It was still hours before the sun would rise as vehicles headed up and down Highway 99 in Nicolaus. It was just north of Sacramento as a gray PT Cruiser and a Tesla suddenly collided. The force from the initial collision sent one of the vehicles slamming into the center median, officers said.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found that the vehicles’ hazard lights were flashing and air bags in both vehicles had deployed during the crash. Paramedics at the scene checked the occupants of both vehicles and found one occupant with serious injuries. They quickly loaded the victim into an ambulance and rushed them to a local hospital to receive treatment.
Tow trucks had to be called to remove at least one of the badly damaged vehicles and crews worked as fast as they could to clean the scene of debris. Investigators gathered evidence and are determined to figure out what caused this wreck and who was at fault.
