San Francisco, CA (April 25, 2024) A four-vehicle collision on Highway 101 in San Francisco, left one person with serious injuries on Wednesday, April 24th. Motorists experienced delays because of the accident which took place near the Candlestick Park off-ramp. It all happened right around 1:00 p.m., according to police reports.
Officers said a bus was traveling along Highway 101 when, for reasons unknown, it collided with other vehicles. Accidents such as this happen so quickly. Before anyone knew what was happening, the bus and at least three other vehicles were blocking several lanes of the highway. A red Honda had hit one of the vehicles head-on and its front-end was completely smashed and damaged.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene within minutes. With lights flashing, half of them began diverting traffic away from the scene. The other half checked the vehicles involved to see if anyone was hurt. They found one person with serious injuries, reports indicated. Paramedics arrived and carefully placed the victim on a stretcher and loaded them into the ambulance. The ambulance left the scene at a high rate of speed, sirens wailing and lights flashing, as they rushed the victim to a local hospital.
Officers investigated the scene and took statements from those involved. They are determined to discover what exactly happened on Highway 101 that afternoon, and who was at fault. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove at least one of the damaged vehicles and crews worked diligently to remove debris from the highway.
